So you finally made it to your senior year! Congratulations. This could be one of the most memorable experiences of your life so make it count. There is no student group in the school ranked higher than senior status. You will be viewed by lowerclassmen as the experienced more mature classmate.
Of course your senior year will no doubt be busy with SATs, essays, college applications, scholarship searches, and your senior course load….. just to name a few. But there are some aspects of your senior year that will make it all worthwhile.
Course Selections
As a senior you are treated with a higher priority if you are fortunate enough to attend a school that recognizes your status. For example, seniors may receive priority when it comes to course selections. If a junior and senior request a schedule adjustment requesting the same course, the senior may take priority and receive the schedule adjustment first.
Head of Line Privileges
Some schools allow seniors head of line privileges during lunch or may even allow seniors to leave campus for lunch. If so, enjoy!
Parking Privileges
If parking is limited on campus, seniors will most likely receive parking permits first. If student parking is not an issue on campus, seniors may receive front parking over other students.
Yearbook
You get that full page ad in the yearbook where you and your parents can share pictures and memories of your childhood.
Arriving Late or Leaving Early
Seniors who do not have a full schedule may be able to arrive to school late or leave school early. Some seniors have part-time jobs which may earn them the privilege of leaving school early.
Voting
Turning 18 your senior year will no doubt give you the right to vote and the right to register for Selective Service, if you are a guy.
Commencement
Completing your high school requirements gives you the right to graduate!
